Sitges Tour

To discover Sitges origins we must take a walk around its old quarter. You’ll discover remains of ancient ramparts, the Racó de la Calma (Quiet Corner), the old fishermen’s homes, the cannon, plus you can visit Sitges different museums: Cau Ferrat Museum, Maricel Museum and Palau Maricel.
The Maricel’s story began in the autumn of 1909, when the painter Ramon Casas introduced Deering to Sitges. The American liked the town so much that he made immediate plans to build a residence here and asked the artist to find him a house near the Cau Ferrat. In 1910 Deering purchased the former Hospital of San Juan Bautista. The next year, Utrillo oversaw decoration of the property. What he created was a stately home complete with ornamental elements from different periods and origins.
The guided tour through the old route is the old part of the town to know their origins and understand their present. It is a walk that will take us from the eleventh century, the remains of the walled castle until the twentieth century, with all its cultural splendor ( Modernism today ). The tour will take us to the seaside neighborhood of La Ribera to the tip, the wall of the sea , the castle and bastions. The history and evolution of a fishing village to a tourist town.
